The title of the PST head of service translates in English into Director General of The Norwegian Police Security Service (in Norwegian: "sjef for Politiets sikkerhetstjeneste").
The first heads of service were appointed with no limitations as to the extent of their terms of office. Today, the Director General is appointed for a term of office of six years.
