Several bodies of authority regulate PST's activities.
The Norwegian Parliament, the Ministry of Justice and the prosecuting authority to which we report (the Director General of Public Prosecutions and the public prosecutors) regulate us by putting in place frameworks within which our activities must lie, and by ensuring that we work within these frameworks.
Some of our powers require the permission of the court before they are used, with the result that the court also exerts control over the PST cases in question.
Additionally, the Norwegian Parliament has appointed a committee – the Intelligence, Surveillance and Security Committee – which continually scrutinises the operations of PST, the Norwegian Intelligence Service (NIS) and the National Security Authority.
