PST’s role is to provide advice in connection with contingency planning and emergency response.
The Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) is the Ministry of Justice’s centre of expertise in the area of public security and emergency preparedness. In a civil emergency, the National Police Directorate (POD) takes the lead in the national emergency response efforts of the police service. Both DSB and POD are key partners who work collaboratively with PST in contingency planning and emergency response matters.
PST assists the rest of the police service with the preparation of contingency plans. We are also a key contributor in connection with exercises aimed at testing national contingency plans. We participate in both the planning phase as well as in the exercises themselves (including the preparation of threat assessments to be used by participants). Lessons learned through the exercises are used to adjust contingency plans.
