All activities carried out by PST must be in accordance with laws, regulations and other decisions by those to whom we report. A number of bodies with superior authority monitor the various types of activities we carry out. In addition, we conduct continual self-monitoring in order to ensure that we operate in accordance with the applicable laws at any given time.
Our operations are therefore subject to a regulatory framework. At any given time the current regulations impose constraints on which cases we may handle and which measures we can implement in our operations. External and internal monitoring mechanisms ensure that we remain within the applicable framework.
Authorities to which we report decide which of our functions should be given highest priority, and these priorities are also reflected in appropriations we receive in the national budget. The priorities set and budgeted funds also impose constraints within which PST operations at any given time must be carried out.
